ISWAN recognised for 'Excellence in Seafarers' Welfare' at 2023 ShipTek Awards

ISWAN received the ‘Excellence in Seafarers’ Welfare’ award at the 16th ShipTek International Maritime Awards 2023 in Dubai.

ISWAN received the ‘Excellence in Seafarers’ Welfare’ award at the 16th ShipTek International Maritime Awards 2023 in Dubai.

The awards, presented at The Address Marine Hotel on 16th March, recognised the ‘Bravehearts’ of the maritime industry who have contributed significantly to the industry and demonstrated innovative and visionary leadership. ISWAN was honoured at the ceremony for demonstrating ‘exceptional commitment and leadership in promoting the welfare, safety and wellbeing of seafarers’.

ISWAN’s Chief Executive Simon Grainge, accepting the award with ISWAN’s International Operations Manager Chirag Bahri, said:

‘The work that we do supporting seafarers and their families is very rewarding in itself, but to actually have our work recognised in this way is the icing on the cake. The work that we do is primarily for seafarers and their families, but secondly, it’s also for the industry, because without seafarers, there is no industry’.

The previous day, the ShipTek International Conference 2023, organised by Biz Events Management, brought together top industry stakeholders, decision-makers and experts from the maritime industry for thought-provoking presentations and interactive panel discussions highlighting the many ways technology enhances efficiency, safety, and sustainability in the maritime world.

ISWAN’s Simon Grainge delivered a presentation on ‘The Future of Seafarers’ Welfare’ at the conference, giving an overview of ISWAN’s services for seafarers and the wider maritime industry, and highlighting the impact that future challenges such as increased automation and decarbonisation will have on recruitment and retention of seafarers.

ISWAN would like to congratulate the other winners at the ShipTek International Maritime Awards 2023.
