Supporting yacht crew and their families, and driving crew-centred change
ISWAN’s Welfare of Yacht Crew Project mission is to ensure that yacht crew and their families have the support and resources they need to respond to the challenges of life at sea, and to drive crew-centred change within the yachting industry.
The project launched in 2018 with innovative research into the welfare of those living and working on board yachts, the findings of which led to the launch of the first-of-its kind YachtCrewHelp helpline service in November 2020.
We are running a global awareness campaign to raise awareness of YachtCrewHelp – find out more and how you can get involved below…
We are raising awareness of our confidential 24/7 helpline, YachtCrewHelp, and the fact that it offers support to all crew (regardless of rank, experience, employment status, nationality or location) and their families.
About YachtCrewHelp: YachtCrewHelp is a free, confidential, multilingual helpline operated by the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) for yacht crew and their families. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and provides emotional, wellbeing and practical support to yacht crew and their families of any nationality.

We are extremely grateful to our project sponsors, whose support makes our work for yacht crew welfare possible:
We launched our YachtCrewHelp service in November 2020 in response to the lack of accessible, specialised support available to crew working in the yachting industry. Building on ISWAN’s expertise from operating SeafarerHelp, our long-established helpline for the maritime sector, YachtCrewHelp is a free, confidential, multilingual helpline available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing emotional, wellbeing and practical support to yacht crew and their families of any nationality.

We worked with partners across the yachting industry to produce a resource to guide and support all crew to increase their awareness of the potential risks associated with job-hunting in the yachting industry. Personal safety precautions for job-seeking yacht crew aims to empower crew by providing the guidance and tools necessary to make informed, aware, boundaried and safe decisions about their next role. This resource is for all crew, no matter what gender, nationality or level of experience within the yachting industry.
