We have worked with Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr. Pennie Blackburn to produce a poster offering tips and access to support for seafarers finding it difficult to cope during the current pandemic.

Restrictions on travel and the shipping industry are putting extraordinary pressure on seafarers, who may be worried about their families, finances or health, or facing an uncertain future. Like many people around the world, seafarers are likely to be experiencing a range of emotions at this time, but particularly isolation and loneliness when they are stranded on their vessels and unable to return home.

Prompted by the recent tragedies involving crew members on board cruise vessels, ISWAN has produced a poster with Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr. Pennie Blackburn which offers psychological first aid tips to help seafarers identify and cope with signs of stress in themselves and others. The poster also signposts a number of organisations providing support to seafarers around the world.
