ISWAN has arranged for meal packs to be delivered to seafarers stranded due to the COVID-19 crisis.

ISWAN’s regional office in the Philippines is working with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to deliver meals to 565 seafarers around Manila who have been unable to return home due to coronavirus restrictions. The meal packs will be delivered every day for the next 10 days. Photos of some of the seafarers receiving the meals can be viewed below.

Thousands of seafarers from the Philippines have been stranded in different locations, some outside of the country, and ISWAN’s regional office has been working with government agencies like OWWA and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to assist them. ISWAN is also on standby to provide support and guidance to the large number of seafarers expected to return from cruise ships.
